Organic and Fairtrade Coffee, Drinks and Snacks
Coffee
We make our coffee drinks with Just Coffee People’s delectable 100% Arabica bean Organic Java, Roasted and packed in Leeds. We combine this with organic milk from Happy Cow Dairy, Thornhill, Wakefield. What we believe to be a winning combination and about as locally produced as you can get.
Other hot drinks
We also sell a delectable fairtrade hot chocolate, a range of premium whole leaf teas from Teapigs, hot milk steamers and milkshakes all with organic milk and where available fairtrade syrups.
Snacks
A selection of organic cakes from Honeyrose Bakery, fairtrade and organic sweet treats from Doves Farm and fairtrade Divine Chocolate. Most of our supplies are bought from Suma Wholefoods, a local wholesaler of organic, fairtrade and vegetarian products, who are also a democratically run workers cooperative.
Packaging
We also thought long and hard about our packaging choices. Disposable products are a huge cause for concern and with landfills filling up fast we didn’t want to turn a blind eye to the problem.
Our hot drink cups are made from a mix of recycled and sustainable forested paper with a 100% biodegradable plant based lining. They can be recycled as a paper product or composted.
Our cold drink cups and straws are made from bio-plastic made from plant material, which if composted with organic matter will compost in 6-8 weeks and nourish the soil. Normal plastics are made from oils which is a finite resource and can take thousands of years to break down releasing toxins as it does. Bio-plastic is also fully recyclable, but unfortunately only about 10% of recycling centres have the facilities to sort bio-plastic from PET and HDPE, hopefully, as more people use this material, this will change.
